ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Franz Wagner did it all for the Magic and then some, scoring 34 points with 13 rebounds in Orlando's 132-117 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday night.
It was the latest in a string of strong performances for the 6-foot-10 forward, who has emerged as one of the most promising young players in the NBA.
Wagner's older brother, Moritz, also had a big night, agreeing to a two-year, $22 million contract extension earlier in the day. Moritz Wagner had eight points and six rebounds against the Hornets.
The Magic led by just five points at halftime, but they took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Hornets 40-22. Franz Wagner scored 17 of his 20 points in the third.
The Hornets never got closer than 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Terry Rozier led the Hornets with 27 points, while Miles Bridges added 25.
